Went out to the car this morning and the battery was completely flat. I have no idea why would it have gone flat as its only been stood two days, and its got a brand new battery in it (as in its just 5 days old). The alternator got soaked in oil when the burst occurred - could that flatten the battery??

It was so flat the central locking wouldn't even operate!

erm, why dd u fit a new battery - ???? seems a tad strange, cant see why an oil covered alternator would cause that  :undecided:

Bought a new one because it wouldn't start last Monday - the battery had gone flat. Maybe theres a separate [coinicdental] electrical fault draining the battery.  I assumed the battery had just died as it looks proper old, so chucked a new one in. It was fine all week, and then I broke down on Friday with the oil cooler fault.

could have been fine to start daily, but 2 days worth of a DRAIN could be too much mate.

Sounds like you got electrical gremlins too

Want picking up on Satdee

Probably got electrical issue then  -  f**k-a-doodle-do.     The only thing I've done lately is repair the 5th injector connector and connect it back up (its never been connected ever since I bought the car - perhaps this is why!!).

Thanks for the lift offer - might very well take you up on it, unless I take a day off work this week and fix mine.

So then, ever regret selling that mk4?

If you need anything as a temporary measure to get the car running temporarily we have a KR block sat in the shed that can be pulled apart
