clifford 300 alarm and changing ignition switch
« on: 20 January 2009, 22:21 »
Hi, am still having problems I think are related to the ignition switch (no dash lights but heater control lights / electric window switch lights work and intermittantly no lights apart from sidelights) - correct me if I am wrong! - but I have a replacement switch and am going to have a go changing it this weekend - (the car is an 88 16v so I might not have to remove the collar thing from below the steering wheel as it might not have one? alternatively will have to un-do uj etc.) In any case I have a clifford 300 alarm / immobiliser - will I be able to disconnect the ignition switch without it going mental? or is the alarm part of it - any ideas would be appreciated...

Hi
If you have  a replacement switch, then you should do one test before setting about replacing the switch.
Disconnect the connector to the existing switch and connect it to the replacement one. Then use something suitable to turn it to the different positions.
This will prove whether the fault is in the switch or elsewhere.
