Trouble with electrics :S - Central Convience Module????

Alright guys in desperate need of some help,

At the moment i cant lock my car because the key fob is not working, also my interior lights and electric windows also dont work.

About a month ago i noticed my central locking playing up, sometimes it would set the alarm off when i unlocked my car and the key fob became intermittent. Now it doesnt work at all and if i lock/unlock my car with the key in the door it sets the alarm off.

Now i have tried using my spare key fob and this results in the same problem, so its NOT the battery or the fob itself. It seems to be a problem inside the car.

Now i have checked all the fuses and they are all fine, i garage i spoke to said it could be a problem with my central convience module?

I dont have much mechanical knowledge but it sounds serious, he said they are located under the dash so would involve a full strip down which sounds expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with this module and what the problem could be? perhaps a loose wire or something.

Any help would be greatfully appriciated as i have my car booked in at the garage later in the week and would like to avoid a hefty bill where possible.

its fuse 14 i believe in your fuse box

think its 10 or 15amp

it WILL be the fuse

also you can lock your car using the key unless you've delocked the car

Hmmm, i've checked all the fuses in the fuse box with a continuity tester and they are all fine. I'll take another look at fuse 14. Do you mean the fuse box by the drivers door?

I can lock and unlock my car with the key, but when i unlock the car it sets the alarm off? Also i cant stop it once it goes off and have to wait ages, usually on busy car parks for it to go off on its own accord.

yes i do and thats strange that it checked out fine  i'd replace it anyway as its only a few pence

i had the same problem but my alarm didn't go off after i'd unlock the car using the key

as in put a new one in? sorry if im stating the obvious but just trying to ascertain what else it might be

its located under the steering wheel - there are a series of torx 10 screw holding the trim in place and takes about 5 minutes to remove - not sure what it looks like

do you have a fault code reader? or know someone local with VAG COM who could at least pull off fault code, if any

Also putting the key in the ignition and starting the engine should turn the alarm off.  And it should be giving you 15 seconds after using the blade to open the doors to do this without the sounder going off..

Ok i've replaced the fuse and this hasnt solved the problem :S

I dont have VAG com or know anyone who has apart from my local vw specialist PSI Tuning, this is where i've got it booked in as well.

Even with the car started the alarm carries on going off, the lights dont flash either. I can drive around with the alarm going off.

I might try accessing the central convience module myself and looking for a loose wire or something.

I'll try locking with the key and starting the engine within 15 seconds to see if the alarm goes off.
