Gamma unit volume knob
« on: 17 January 2009, 19:12 »
Volume knob seems to be properly buggered now.

Often when I turn the volume up, it jumps right down to almost silent.  Careful turning clockwise used to do the trick.  Now even if I spend ages turning it, the volume rarely actually goes up!!  It doesn't seem to do it "all" the time, but definitely very often.

Is this a common problem?  I don't know whether I can fix it, or if I'm going to have to buy something else...

Easier just to find another Gamma unit on E-bay as they are often for sale for not a lot of money.
Unless this is the excuse you have been looking for to get that double din replacement unit!!!

Very common.. mine did it from day 1 but mostly on cold mornings. Eventually it didn't work at all and I had to mess with it for ages to get a volume I was happy with and never touched it again!

The cold does seem to cause the problem to occur more frequently.  I think the electrics are slowly all turning to jelly in the car!
