Most folk will recommend a Bently manual over Haynes.

Get yourself back on ebay, i bought a 2nd hand haynes on there for £2.50 delivered to my house!

if you are a bit short on cash just fix the failures first and worry about the advisories at a later date, the failures although they may sound major are infact just the opposite

Its a shame when people get rid of perfectly good mk2s for the sake of a small mot failure

Def fix it buddy .....people have come up with a lot lot worse after an mot.

I bought my mk2 with very very limited mechanical knowledge but have done all sorts of work on it. Def get a haynes manual or use the Bently manual: http://www.iol.ie/~kilkennyhockey/BentleyManual/  as suggested.

This place is a wealth of information as well...
