Well I had to try it didn't I!!
« on: 16 January 2009, 19:12 »
(sorry if you've already read it on MK5golfgti.co.uk)

Just got back from having the free 5 hour revo trial put on my car and I'm not sure i can stress in a few sentences what a difference it makes.

I've always thought the gti was fast (200bhp version) and have for so long thought what is the point.  I've been off work this week and thought i fancy drive today.  I gave votex ltd in cheshire a call who said to pop down and he'll put the trial map on it no problem.  Dropped the car off, had a walk round, 30 mins later all finished.

Driving in town traffic for the first 15 mins it felt exactly the same as normal.  Then after about 30 mins of driving i finally got the opportunity to open it up.  I was and still am absolutely stunned at the pick up.  The surge right to the red line just pins you in the seat in every gear, it almost feels like the front of the car is lifting.  Its so addictive just to have another feel of that power.  I can never go back to normal now so unfortunately i'm going to be £450 down

But..... Its all worth it.  Don't know why i didnt bother with the trial before, there was no hard sale from the guy at votex, just took down some details, said enjoy and btw we do servicing etc, email if you want a quote.

Ohh, want to go for another drive........ also ref fuel consumption, I did 120 miles today, 70 in remapped state and it has averaged 33.3mpg so seems similar to normal

I was just like you until I tried Revo Stage 1 and lost my innocence      I'm gagging for Stage 2+ and 360 bhp but Revo haven't finished developing it for my Ed30 as yet     I've also got the Select Plus switch which I will probably use to switch between aggressive and mild settings once Stage 2+ is on... as for using it to return the car to stock?  NEVER

I can't imagine its really only 80%, It must be pushing the car so hard such is the difference.  I'm told to expect 255-260bhp and 285 ft lb of torque.  It certainly feels like it.  I'm stunned how well it handles the increase, so much was made about how badly the astra vxr dealt with 240bhp and the gti feels like it has just taken it in its stride.  Glad i have F1's though, think they really help

I was considering the switch but im not sure i would ever turn it back to stock.  Its completely normal until you push it and then it takes off.  Worries me that it might be doing damage to the car but......i love it

winrya if you want to switch it back to stock at any time, I'm not too far away in stockport and can get hold of a select switch...

I've emailed the guy confirming the cost but he told me he was sure there had been a £100 reduction on it.  The site is below, brilliant service!!

Winrya, stage one revo will get you to 230bhp, its no where near 260 odd.See rolling road results from JkM last year, even a standard GTi with full APR exhaust made 245bhp.
