36mpg on the way to work this morning!!    Only took me 2mins longer too...

Having that service was the best thing I have ever done, would never have got that before.

VW Elland road... service was alot better than before when it was Richard Alexandra. I do a 8 mile blast along the ring road and selby road.. just past cross gates. Dual carriage most of it but a few traffic lights too. Might have had something to do with it being so cold and only about 5litres of juice in the tank

Why people buy cars like the gti and r32 and worry about mpg figures is beyond me! If i was worried about mpg figures i would get a diesel. If i wanted to have fun and enjoy the car i would buy a petrol and fill it up when it needs it (which i do) Couldnt care if i save £1 from lifting off abit on the motorway for 5 minutes, id rather floor it and enjoy it

People worry about fuel cost because they are tough times and not everyone has money in the bank just waiting to be used for petrol.

Yes we have bought a 2.0T / V6 engined car, but its nice that sometimes it can return a decent figure.

Who said anything about worrying??

I was simply reporting back my observation as I set off slightly early to work this morning. Just chose not to exceed the speed limit thats all... and wouldnt say I was driving like a granny.

It just seems to be myth that R32's are excessively juicy, but its always nice to show the other side of the coin. If I remember correctly T_T often states that he can easily get 37mpg from his RS4 (how I dont know )

Wasnt directing this at you mate, ive seen so many of these threads over various forums, all of them performance car forums. Seems like a silly question to ask on a car you buy to enjoy!

Ive posted this link a couple of times now

R32uk's car is the only R that returns more then the VW handbook specifys. From a cold start , and 8 mile journey, theres NO WAY your car will accurately return that figure, especially from cold as it runs a third richer and would use more then on a long run giving then a good mpg reading on the mfd.
From Brim to Brim  that  is the only way to correctly work out whether your R32 is giving you that figure. At 36mpg, thats 432 mile range!. IMPOSSIBLE!!

A 2.0lt TFSi cannot return that figure even driven with kid gloves, and your saying a V6 is more efficient!!
