ITs quite hard to explain without having you sitting in the car looking at the mpg readout. An example will be a straight flat road, I will be in 4th doing about 30, I will have my foot VERY slightly on the go pedal a few cms if that and its saying im doing 26mpg. Im commute to Canary Wharf which I do 3 times a week used to be about 30-32 now its 28-30. Hoever I think a lot of that is that when I give it the beans it uses much more and I just cant help myself, its the mpost addictive thing since herorin lol :D

Motorway journeys have been affected to. Im in Reading today which is a 70 mile single trip, I used to get 35-37  easy doing this trip, this morning I got 32 . . . :undecided: This is by no means a complaint, I wasnt expecting my mpg to go UP after the remap, and its hardly lots, just thought it was worth a comment. Just nipped out of the office to go a mile or so down the road to out other site and my over-all average since I reset it about a month or so ago it 25.6mpg.

I think that VW engines get looser and more economical as the mileage increases - I have less than 8000miles on the clock.

I have had about 252 from a 55 litre tank and simialrly over 360 from the same amount.  The GTI does not like a 8 mile round trip commute, I think when it does that regularly it just gets depressed and starts drinking a lot more than it should....

I have seen my trip computer show 43mpg ..on a long motorway, cruise control fed run.  Have a pic of the display but it wont resize from photobucket right now, it would be too big.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

I average about 330 miles per tank, mainly 10 miles journeys here and there and some about town stuff, with a couple of longer drives thrown in for good measure. mpg improves when the missus drives it but apparently she was not born with a lead right foot

mpg went up with new tyres and having them filled with Nitrogen, not sure whether it is a gimmick or not.

So true. In a 7-8 mile stop start commute with one or bits where I can blast it, 20-25mpg was norm.
In a 7-8 mile commute in free-flowing (but busy) traffic where I can't floor it but stay at 40-50mph, I get just over 30mpg.
Sometimes on the motorway I get 35mpg but the way I drive, it's more like 30mpg. I once got 26mpg on a 160 mile journey that I completed in two hours. Normally takes 2.5hrs and online maps/GPS say it'd take 3 hrs.

Dunno bout you guys but I have a real problem with trying to stay off the gas pedal.

I averaged 29.1mpg on my Mk5 GTI. This was over 27k miles.

I averaged 29.5mpg on my ED30. This was over 9k miles.

All measurements done using distance travelled between fill-ups. The car's computer was inaccurate by about 0.5 to 1 mpg.

Currently averaging 24.3mpg on my R32  but it has only done 1700 miles - expecting this to improve to about 26mpg by about 10k miles. The ED30 improved from 27mpg to 29.5mpg over its 9k miles.

no TBH, i dont watch the actual MPG on my highline though i watch the average and know what i should be doing where if you know what i mean and it all adds up, i have been doin some ridiculous mileage recently though, i did a couple thousand miles last week and i dont tend to go slow around the windy roads of mid wales anyway work or not, dont bother worrying about it anymore as alot is for work and gets subsidized anyway.
