mk4 purchase
« on: 14 January 2009, 14:11 »
I  just bought a  2.0 Litre  BLACK,  MK4 GTI   V Reg 2000 model  with 122,000 miles for £1200.  Is it a bargain? Engine is very quiet and everything works and is very clean.

I discovered later the GTI badge at the rear missing. Is it uncommon and if I need to get a gennuine one how and where can I get one reasonably cheap? And is it a stick on?  Does it come with the the red "I" after the GT? Any help please.
Thanks

Well to be honest, all I want to know is if its a bargain in terms of the VW GOLF GTI WORLD!1
Bought it for my 21 yr old son who happens to like golf.
Personally my own car is a SAAB 9-5  2.3L with 230 BHP on tap as standard. Woud welcome you to test drive  it

The only reason its not a bargain is the "lump" in the bonnet mate. Otherwise sounds like a bargain.
If its for a 21 year old though may have been better than a 1.8 insurance etc.
The day you see me in a diesel is the day there is no more petrol left :D

Its a VERY reasonable price considering its done a fair few miles. Only problem is the 2.0 8v under the bonnet. But saying that, I had one before the MK5 and they are cracking motors and I loved mine, even if it wasnt fast :)
