Nothing wrong with mine  ;)
Seriously the only real problems i have had with it in 2 years have been alarm related.

2.0 8v GTI - 10.2secs

THATS PANTS...  My mates 1.4 astra merit on a g plate goes quicker than that, probably due to the lack of waight, hasnt even got a ciggy lighter...

mine hasn't got a ciggie lighter either!! lol

I think most Vw's are gonna be reliable, depends how well you treat 'em

thought u broke it badly :)

the main reason i got a valver over the '6 was

the insurance and not being fussed about super performance, the valver is fine for me. i was hunting for a motorway cruiser as my 'kinda' g/f lives about an hour away. when you're at 70mph (honest guv) what diff does the 0-60 time make? lol

i was just making a point as M777CUSGTI slagged it off without giving a good reason why.
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

I agree, the valver is very understated.
The vr wasn't broken badly, there was a problem with fuel pump circuit, so my mate rewired it with a fuse and a relay.
Basically the fuel pump circuit is wired through the alarm, so we bypassed it.

I was suprised to find that my VR6 cost less than ?150 extra to insure than my 16v :).  It does however average 5mpg less :(.  But i think it's worth it.  Although i liked the 16v very much.

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

yeah, for younger and/or less experienced drivers that gaps a lot bigger. there was a 400 quid gap when i was looking. i jumped up 150/200 quid from what i was paying for my 1.4i polo open air.
