Halfords paint match? Colour coding
« on: 10 January 2009, 14:30 »
I  have a Marintine Blue MK3. I'm thinking of colour coding a few things. Wouldn't mind giving some stuff a go. Whats the Halfords stuff like? They have spray in VW Marintine blue, any good?

What are the best things to spray for a good looking car? What's the best way of preparing it?

Thanks!

You wont know until you've bought a can and tried it, the product itself should be OK. but unless you've got a heated area to paint in, then I would wait till it gets warmer

OK thanks. I don't think I have a heater, have to wait then, unless my dads got one.

Just wanted to do some of the trim. Dunno if the windows would look ghey if done. I wanted to do the door trims, but then if I get arch covers, I dunno if they would look crap sprayed blue....  I'll probably get the bumper professianally done by my mechanic, as he does body work as well.

i would strongly suggest that you do not use halfords custom match as they got it wrong for me. causing 2 days without car and i had to get the paint custom matched from a local Autopaint shop - Halfords would not refund me.

check ma post here for full exp...

don't use halfords paint!! nasty stuff.  speak to any good bodyshop and they can supply you with a rattle can which is worth a few extra ££'s.

I used to work there (ended up walking out because they are TOTAL sh!tE AND KNOW ALL ABOUT F**K ALL). Do not use the paint because i had to spray a panel for my mothers Audi A3 in Akoya Silver, It may aswell have been bloomin BR green, rubbish match. All wrong and dont match / work, like alot of there stuff.........
