battery is dead because i left the lights on and the car is locked - help!

ok, here's the situation, the car is locked and the battery is dead since i might have left the lights on overnight. therefore the central locking is locked and not working. is there a way around this so that I can open the car and get in it to open the bonnet? Also it's DSG and in Park. Can the car be moved out of the garage so that it can be jump started by another car?

I'm sure you would have tried this but what about the key in the lock on the drivers side - surely this should get you in the car even when the car is in this state?

he must of unlocked it with his key the opens the drivers door :lipsrsealed:............ :rolleyes:

I thought the lights switched themselves off after 30 seconds or so  :huh: ?

well got it fixed. The problem was that I have to park really close to the right hand wall and then climb over to the passenger side to get out due to the crappy way the house/Garage is designed. I could try and reverse the car into the garage but as you can imagine that would be a real ball ache.

Therefore i had real problems trying to get the drivers door open because it was so close to the wall. Once the door was open I had to get a skinny friend (i'm a bit of a bloater) to squeeze in the gap and reach down to open the bonnet latch as the central locking is electrically operated and there wasn't any power.

Once the bonnet was opened I called the VW Assistance and a kind RAC man popped round with one of those portable battery packs and had the car up and running in seconds. All sorted. Cheers for the advice.

I had it on manual as it was foggy and i needed the fog lights. I forgot I put them on manual. Doh!

doesn't it beep like mad when u take key out of ignition if u leave the lights on manual setting instead of auto??
