As you'll have noticed I'm new to the site but I'm not a GTi owner!

I'm looking for a GTI as my next car and can't really decide which one to go for. I'm thinking of either a late MK2 16V, a MK3 VR6 or possibly a MK4 1.8T.
I've previously had a MK4 2.0 GTI and despite it being a comfortable car it was pretty gutless and the reliablilty was truly awful with 8 breakdowns in the first 13 weeks I owned it

Any suggestions as to which GTi I should go for?

Meanwhile I'm off for a look around the site

Welcome to the forum.

MK2 16v would be the most fun and handle the best, MK3 VR6 would sound the best but handle like a barge and the MK4 1.8T would be a good alrounder, handle better than the MK3 VR6 but not be quite as fun to drive as the MK2 16V.
