2 litre mk3 lump into mk2
« on: 07 January 2009, 20:13 »
Hi all,my neighbour is doing a mk2 1.8 8v (on an 90 spec H reg) to a 2.0 8v conversion, the new engine is from a mk3 on an N reg,the one with the immobillieer chip thing in the key. but he wants me to do his loom work for him. ive heard from a few people at local cruises that its a plug and play affair.he has the entire MK3 on his driveway which he is stripping as i type.hes going to use the mk2 interior, fuel pump and lighting looms and wants to use the mk3 engine loom.doesw anyone have a diagram for what connectors go where on the fuse box for both the mk2 and mk3 atall plz?help appreciated as hes constantly moaning at me for help and i have my own project to get on with lol.thanks
i think i love you.....

Easiest way is to fit the 1.8 8v head to the 2.0 block and retain the original mk2 engine loom, that way its all plug and play

ok thanks for that but this isnt me doing the work and he aint gonna listen to me,the geezer is stubborn as a donkey.the loom from the mk2 is knackered coz he done the head gasket, put it all back together but for some reason the injectors wouldnt fire so he swapped the whole engine over

if your lucky most of it will plug in, otherwise  you'll have to get the diagrams out it's mot like anyone ever transplants the mk3 8v ecu by choice
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
