Yet another noobie...
« on: 07 January 2009, 18:26 »
Hi guys, new to this forum so here's the obligatory intro thread

Well I suppose I better tell you a bit about me......

I'm 32, and I live just outside of Bristol, previously I have been into the jap scene and have owned a fair few mad jap motors over the years (350bhp Scooby, 380bhp RX7 FD, DC2 Integra which I then turbo'd, and most recently an R33 Skyline GTS-T running ~320bhp). Fun though they were, as you can imagine these cars have drained my wallet, so I decided to sell up and get something cheap, reliable and fun. I also fancied a change from the Jap scene.

So what did I buy? An '85 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v. It's great fun, obviously it's nowhere near as quick as my turbo-nutter jap stuff, but it fulfills everything I need in a car right now. It's reliable, cheap to run and is an absolute hoot to drive.

Not regretting the change one bit, and looking forward to attending some shows and meets, I'm also partial to throwing my cars round a track so will be doing some track days too.

Cheers for now,

Ben.

Hows the 8v power wise?

If I'm honest it's dog-slow compared to what I'm used to, but that doesn't matter, the car has loads of character and is great fun to drive. That said, it is actually quicker than I was expecting

Here's a couple of quick pics from the original ad, I'll take some better shots when I get the chance:
