front seat swap???? (newbee)

hi there bought gti 8v after several (dependable  ) makes of car always letting me down so went simple this time.

looking to change front seats and these vr6 ones are hard to find locally where i am as been constantly calling scrappies in the area for last couple of months.

wot needs to b done to say for example drop in leather seats from an alpha?

is it an easy job taking of runners? spacing new ones in and how?

wot u guys and girls reackon? bad idea , i just wanted sommit a bit diff

Welcome to the site.

The biggest issue you will find is that VW seats have a subframe as part of the seat base. This will cause problems fittinf a seat from anything else unless you break out a welder and and the VW mounts on to it.

Try looking in the for sale section of the forums, there are always a choice of interiors to be had.

hmmmm welding well never done it so dont want to leave snot looking holes in the floor ha ha but i might know a guy for the job. was just interested in alternative seats as seems plenty of other car interiors littered in scrappies.

so is is only say vw, audi and seat that fit at a guess?

wot if i grind down the mentioned seat mounts and find some way of drilling and self tapping a new frame and runners in from other manufacturer???

love the mk3 but do hav a thing for the mark 4 after buying a set of original gti alloys of a guy in bothwell, glasgow to get rid of the 17s that were on(due to only one rear driver side pannel rubbing, wierd).

his mk4 was mint proper euro style.

you would die in a crash as the seat came apart and chucked you through the windscreen.

 don't even think about it.
