Mk1 GTI Throttle body swap -HELP!!

Hi All.

I'm a bit new to carrying out mods - but I was given a larger throttle body - measure 52 mm in the large chamber - looks quite larger than the one currently fitted  and was told it wouldd add a few bhp! - is this true? and if so - how much bhp?

The throttle body on my golf ( i.8 DX engine) has a micro switch underneath that opens when the small butterfly in the throttle opens - can anyone tell me what this switch does as the larger throttle body that I was given does not have this or the mountings for the screws to fit the switch on  - would I need to fit it somehow to the other throttle?
