8.8. Steering draft (steering with
hydraulic booster)
GENERAL INFORMATION

Withdrawal
HOW THE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Remove the steering mechanism together with tyagami (see 8.3), disconnect with the
inlet 16 (see Fig. steering mechanism with hydraulic booster) and
17 outlet hoses hydraulic system and stifle holes.
2. Clear dirt from the steering mechanism and steering traction.
6. Measure the length of external threads a ball joint 15, a speaker from the nuts
1, and write it (see fig. The steering equipment).
7. Opened nut 1 outside a ball joint 15.
4. Nip in the grip of sponges of soft metal rack steering mechanism.
8. Vypressovat outer ball joint 15 steering traction.
9. Remove the collar 5 with gryazezaschitnogo cover 6.
10. Download gryazezaschitny cover 6 with a flange 24 gear casing and
move it.
Setting
The installation of the steering equipment and steering eyes produce in order
reverse withdrawal (see subsections 8.2 and 8.3).

8.9. Power steering
GENERAL INFORMATION

Warning
  Power steering disassembly and repair is not. In his

1 - belt;
2 - bolt;

diesel-fueled vehicles);
5 - adjusting bolt;
6 - bolt;

Withdrawal

1. Merge the liquid from the hydraulic system.
2. Disconnects supply hose 16 (see Fig. The steering equipment with
hydraulic booster) from the pump.
3. Loosen nuts 7 (Fig. figure. Pump hydraulic system) and 20 and bolt 17.
4. Opened slightly adjusting bolt 5, thereby turning the pump and lift
wired belt 1.
5. Opened nuts 7 and 20 and bolt 17.
6. Take bolt 14, following the pump.
7. Remove the pump 18 with front brackets 8.
Setting
HOW THE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Installation of power steering the policy,
reverse withdrawal.
2. To tighten belt.
3. Pour liquid and remove air from the system (see 8.11).

1. Loosen nuts 7 and 20 and bolt 17
2. Spin adjusting bolt 5 until the pressing of thumb

8.10. Check the liquid level
GENERAL INFORMATION

Warning
  Need only to fill the hydraulic fluid VAG G002000. Prior to 1989
apply liquid ATF.

HOW THE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Set the front wheels in motion of the car straight.
2. Start the engine.
3. Check the fluid level in the sideburns 22 (see Fig. The steering equipment with
hydraulic booster), to be located between the marks «MAX» and «MIN».
4. Dolit liquid if its level below the «MIN».
5. Turn several times steering wheel from lock to lock until the end
the emergence of bubbles in the sideburns, thereby removing the air from the system.

Warning
  If you had to fill fluid, it is recommended to check the tightness
hydraulic system.


8.11. Replacing the fluid in the hydraulic system
HOW THE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Disconnects outlet hose 17 (see Fig. The steering equipment with
hydraulic booster) of the pump 26.
2. Merge hydraulic fluid in the tank, while turning the steering wheel
from lock to lock to remove as much liquid.
3. Connect the outlet tube 17 to pump 26.
4. Pour liquid in a tank 22.
5. Run the engine for 30 seconds several times.
6. Doliwa liquid, to ensure that the tank did not remain empty.
7. Keep working on the engine idling, when the level of fluid in the
Ordinary engine stopped changing.
8. Turn several times steering wheel from lock to lock until the end
the emergence of bubbles in the sideburns, thereby removing the air from the system.

Warning
  After switching the engine fluid level in a little sideburns increased.





Jeeeeeeeezo - hope that's valuable, now I want that 20 minutes of my life back.

ARGH  that infernal pump again.    i really am starting to take a serious dislikeing to those pas pumps
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Nope, but if I see a PAS pump in the scrappy today I can grab one, and I'll be in Glasgow later this month.

Sorry my man, but the only MK2 in the scrapyard had nothing in the engine bay! I double checked the MK3 one and it certainly doesn't look like mine - so not sure if it would drop in.

Keep an eye on eBay ;)
