Hi ive seen alot of engine bays that have been smoothed and de cluttered , just wondering what year and type radiator it is that people use that has the expansion tank built in ? My car is a 88 GTI cab if it makes any diffference ?

yes if you get one the same width as the old one, even if not a little modification and it'll be sorted. rad itself is a direct drop in replacement

Ive been told today that the smaller engined golfs had these as standard....
1.1's and 1.3's

I have seen a few people use a aftermarket tube / pipe with a built in filler that fits into the top hose, I believe it is made for a motorcycle.
