We need an electronics expert?

So many people have posted with the same problem - broken MFA/rev counter.
The traditional remedy being replacing clocks or shelling out ?140 to fix the old ones..

Even the name/address/tel. no where this can be done for 140 quid would be appreciated.

David

SOMEBODY........ANYBODY........PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Come on guys......please dont let me down.....this is starting to remove the pleasure from driving my GTi and replacing it with sheer frustration!! lol

Try searching for a company called Digidash.

It's alot cheaper to try to find a 2nd hand pair of clocks though.

there is a small voltage regulator on the back of the clocks that sometimes fails, this just pushes into the back of the clocks and costs about ?7 to replace

Can this be bought separately? If so, from where?

VAG stock them

same problem h reg, motometer clocks, no rev counter or MFA,
bought an E reg for spares with motormeter clocks but it has two connectors & the h reg only has one, thought that if the wires would
match colour for colour I would swap the connectors but the E reg has
18 wires & the H reg has 21. The clocks are identical except the temp
light on the E reg is in the temp gauge & on the H reg it is in the row
of idiot lights, cannot figure what the extra 3 wires are for.
going to try swapping any way will post the result.

I just threw mine away after replacing them  :(

I do have a spare set of working ones, single 24 pin unit for post 90 golfs, showing 91,000 miles.

Easier than getting them fixed.

Also I realised that the water warning light doesn't work when the unit goes, I put my new unit in and realised I'd been running low on water, oops....

Well spent saturday taking out the clocks and changing the voltage regulator (the regulator was easy to swap) and putting it all back together just to find out it didn't work! hay ho, new clocks must be the way forward way!
