Help me Im a total newbie!!!
« on: 16 December 2008, 18:45 »
hey all! Just joined cause this site looks awesome!

Just bought a mk4 1.8t last week (ill put up an intro thread with some pics as soon as i get the car back off the girlfriend ) I wanna put in a new sound system in. Its just the bog standard tape player and disc changer in the boot!

id love a double din one. Hopefully a dvd player, bluetooth, sat nav etc but dont really wanna spend a fortune.

Ive seen a few on ebay around the £250 mark? any one have any dealings with these? or recommend one? heres one for an example

My other option is to and spend around £200 to £300 and have one with out the sat nav but would love a usb connection on the rear of it if poss so i could have an external hard drive in glove box to store music if possible!

Also I fancy takin out all the old speakers and putting in shiney new ones... Is this quite straight forward?
Any advice would be much appreciated...

Dont bother with them, the sound quality will be gash! Get a decent headunit, then an ipod and an adapter if you want extra music. Ive got a mint pioneer, ipod and pioneer adapter. The whole lot cost just over £300 but the specs are superb!
My brother has a pioneer which he paid £450 for. Its very good, fully moterised. You do get what you pay for.

look at this.....

I got mine second hand off ebay, it was a 60gig classic jobbie. Mint £50. The adapter lets you have complete control over the ipod and charges it to. Thousand of tracks at you finger tips. the adapter is £40 new, genuine pioneer.
