Need a new set of break pads..cost?

I wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself and wouldn't want to take the risk of cocking it up.  If I have no car, I can't get to work so it's just not something I'm prepared to risk.  But yes, I thought it seemed a tad expensive but even if I bought the pads I don't know anyone who would be able to do it.  Catch 22....

Going to use the opportunity to get a few little niggles sorted out as well.  My accelerator pedal is a bit "clicky".  It's as if the 'plate' that my foot touches is loose or something and they said there's a recall on GTI's as they need to check something out...

Just got a price today for rear pads for my sisters MK5 TDI.

London Stealer wanted £154, inc vat and fitting.

Then called local normal non franchised garage they said the pad themselves are £17 plus vat, and the all in price fitted including VAT, would be £88.

So I took my car to Wayside in Dunstable on Saturday and they took a look at my pads and said they are good for another 10,000 miles!

They said they could take them out give them a clean up etc for me which they did (cost over £120) but I'm pleased with the results, they feel much sharper and no more squeaking!!!

Regarding the recall, they have to replace a fuel sensor and I've got that booked in for a couple of weeks time.  They said they are replacing the sensor as a precaution so it's not something that needs to be done urgently.

as I said in my posting, brand new ones from stealer are £154, and from local trusted garage £88!

I know it's a lot, but the squeak was driving me nuts.  That cost included two new wiper blades too...  :embarassed:

ok, well you didnt mention that, 2 front wiper blades are about £30 from a stealer.
