hi all i just looked up the rear wheel hub nut torque in my set of vw workshop manuals i acquired when they changed from paper to computer and it said to tighten hand tight then tighten another 20 degrees spin the wheel and then slacken back off to leave a minimal amount of play no more than 5mm over tightening will cause premature failure hope that helps scott.

I need to tighten both rears, where can i get new split pins?

you shouldnt need new ones unless u havent got any! motorfactors should have some in!

With respect you should always use new split pins. For what they cost, it's a no brainer. It gets messy when split pins fail and nuts come off, followed by hub assemblies...

Keeping schtum. Mostly.
