Need and adaptor for my headunit!
« on: 25 October 2008, 22:47 »
I can't seem to find the right adaptor for my headunit .
I have a Sony GT420U (here http://www.raysmith.co.uk/CDX-GT420U/) which has ISO leads coming out from it. However, my Golf mk5 has a canbus end. Here are some pictures of the two ends:

Car's end

Headunit's end

Is there any adaptor that will go between the two? Or is a hard wire needed .?

I remember you suggesting that one before. I ordered it and it had one end that would attach to the car but the other end was the same as the car . It couldn't attatch to the headunit's ISO ends . Unless I seriously missed something

I have used this one before to install a standard single DIN ISO headunit (like your Sony) into a MK5 Golf.

It should look similar to this one: -

So it takes the Quad Lock connector from the standard loom and then provides the the two ISO blocks, one for power and one for the speaker connections.

The one I got was different to that  :undecided:. It had canbus on both ends  :undecided:. Looks like either I ordered the wrong one by mistake or they sent the wrong one.
I went the website that your image is from. It's the £89.99 one here right? http://www.bluespot.co.uk/install/show_model.asp?id=294
Would this one work too? http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/volkswagenseat-wiring-adaptor-p-4460.html

the harness from cad will work fine
but bear in mind you may need to hook up an extra ignition live as some have one some don't
