Starting query??
« on: 14 September 2008, 22:43 »
The car is a 1997 1.4 SE we've recently purchased, however it seems to be a little tempremental with starting.

On turning the key sometimes it will power-up the fuel pump (i.e. it whirrs as normal) but when turning against the "spring" where normally the starter motor operates - nothing!

Other times starts first turn.

It seems if the key is pressed into the barrel it doesn't happen, but that could just be in my head!!  :undecided: Sooooo could it be a barrel issue or maybe a selonoid switch??

Common thing or any thoughts??

Oh and where is the starter selonoid switch on these?

Cheers Mark

you usualy get a click if the motor is sticky,   if there is no click it could be the ignition switch.

Bugger!  I thought this too, there's not a peep, kind of hoping of more a relay or selonoid type thingy. Be a pain if it's the barrel

the switch is easy to change, the barrel is a bit harder but still not to bad.    i would check the motor first.   mabey get another from the scrappy and see if that makes any diffrence?
