Right, thanks for looking guys - basically, my 1.4 mk3 has just been fitted with a brand new clutch and cable, it finally burnt out on me at some traffic lights a couple of weeks ago, one of the plates was wafer thin apparently, and would have been sparking whilst driving
Anyway, got it back yesterday and took it for a drive to see how it was. The biting point is ALOT lower and the clutch itself sits lower i.e - it's not the same level as the brake and accelerator but ive been told it just needs a spring to bring it back up again, which is fine and I can live with it being low for now. It was driving fine and going into gear fine, but when it came to parking in Tesco car park, I was struggling to get it into 1st gear - I was forcing it with pretty much all my strength to get it into gear! It's also stiff getting it out of first gear, and when I put it into reverse it makes that awful clunking, grinding noise and the whole car shifts when it eventually gets into reverse.
I've never had this problem before and it's only been doing it since I got the new clutch fitted. Any ideas on what's causing these dodgy gear changes? I hope to god it's not the gear box which is going because iv just spent £340 on the damn thing
My dad just says im not finding the gears properly, but like I say, Ive NEVER had this problem - sometimes it would be a bit reluctant going into first gear if I was driving ultra slow but alot of cars are like that but its more reverse that I'm concerned about.
