converted my tired 91'8v golf into spec below and have just covered 1000 breakdown free miles! (a few leaks though!)
agg bottom end (0% visable wear on bores, honing marks visable)
flowed tb
matched inlet
newman 268
ported head 40/35 valves
matched exhaust manfild
milltek exhaust
lightened balanced fly (1/4 weight reduction)
untampered afm
always ran on v-power
al the work was carried out by 2 well known welsh chaps, and im very very pleased with the visable results.
the cars been set up with the mormal guide, all new vw hoses used, and all new ignition consumables, gasketts and injector seals.
the problem is, the usual idle. it will rev hard up to the redline, so any myths of 2.0 mk2's not being able to rev properly is poop. it also gets there with a noticeable kick @4k. but when it comes to rest, it always dips to the below set 950rpm idle rest, then will shoot back up again. its just a pain when driving in traffic. its also jerky on/off the accelerator pedel. iv fiddled around with the cable tension but just cant cure it.
i had my 1.8 digi running so smooth, so any ideas? maybe adverse affect of the lightened fly?
