rear brake disc bearing question?
« on: 09 February 2008, 18:45 »
Yo

right

got myself a brand spanking new rear caliper today at GFS, seen as my drivers side rear was siezed to hell, and to the point i couldnt drive the car,  the disc was shafted too so i got some mintex discs, and some ferodo pads

i also grabbed some new bearings and seal kit etc that go on the inner and outer of the inside of the disc, plus includes the split pin u need to replace too

ther car is currently in bits but seen as it was late by the time i sourced all the bits i need its now dark

my question is

anyone know a good way of getting the bearing case's into the disc (inner and outer). its as tight a fit as a nun's private parts?

i appreciate this thread will mean fack all to anyone who aint changed their discs on their golf

best to use a vice...or a good sized socket and tap them in!! and remeber to swap the abs rings as most new discs dont include them and a tap with a hammer and screwdriver will get them off your old disc (mine flew accross the garage like them ninja stars when they got changed!)
