STARTS UP FROM COLD WELL, BUT ONCE ENGINE IS WARM IT STALLS/TURNS OFF-HELP PLZ:(

hi,
my golf 1.8 gti mk2 digifant starts up from cold well , but once the engine is warm the car stalls/turns off .

But then starts up first time, but whitin 10 seconds turns off again. the warmer the engine gets the time it takes to turn off decreases?

In the last week or so since I filled up my tank at Sainsbury's, I've had major problems with my idle.

The car starts up ok but if I don't keep the revs at 1k for the first few minutes it drops so low it cuts out. Then when it's hot it'll idle at 650-700, even when warm.

Seems like this problem and my petrol are related so that may be why for you? If not, I'd like to know too

Might be ISV valve, stuck in cold position? I'd take a look at the ISV, check firstly that with the ignition on it buzz's/hum's not sure how to best discribe it! if not then it's probably shot, but you should clean it out once in a while, carb cleaner works well, it might just, maybe, only a remote possibility, bring it back to life if it has only just stopped! also look at the old blue temp sender on top of the coolant flange, go VW for this.

1) Replace BLue Temp sender
2) Check for air leaks round the throttle body and on top of the rocker cover
3) Clean out the Idle stablisation valve

If this doesn't fix it - check the wiring and the switch on the underside of the throttle body that switches on closed throttle - tells the ecu to go into idle mode.

thanks everyone--where is the rocker cover- i tried to find it but to meany things look like a flying saucer in the engine.

the rocker cover is the metal cover on the top of the engine, and the flying saucer is the round plastic thing on top of it with a hose to the throttle body.
