I'm crying because no one wants it, not even one enquiry about it! Cant be that sort after. I see ones on 130+ mileage up for 1300-1500 quid! I was just joking about the 950 by the way, 1000 is the lowest i can go.

Back to the start of the thread, a 8v is a slow shed and the valver is a joy to drive, No choice!

TBH, 8v isn’t that much slower than the 16v. Slower yes, but not that much slower. Think about it, if you buy an 8v, would you then worry if you came across a 16v?  im not!

If you want to buy a fast car, you wouldn't be looking here.

So if you want economy between 8v and 16v go for the 8v, if you want speed go for the 16v. To go to one end of the spectrum to another, economy go for a tdi and for speed, go for a VR6.

16v economy is good.. thats why the new low end vw engines are 16v's (e.g. my girlfriends mk4 is a 1.4 16v).. they give better performance AND economy..

Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

i really enjoy my mk3...

but then again i have the following to go into the engine

Deramped throttle body and cleaned
mk2 gti 8v cam
lightened and balanced 16v flywheel
cone filter fed into the wing
decat
1/2 cage with rear strut
front strut

when i get back from afgan im going to see if i can get her rr'd before and after.

Then im going to save for some widened steels
