Headunit Wiring
« on: 18 October 2007, 19:07 »
I'm trying to install a JVC KD-s6060 into my mk2 golf gti. THe two wiring adapters fit together fine but there is a single red wire coming from under the centre of the dash that there is nowhere to connect. This wire was connected to my old stock tape player but I don't have a wiring diagram to see what it was attached to. The new CD player won't turn on but the old tape player will.

Cheers

i would have thought thats the battery wire, wont turn on without this connected
their should be a plug to connect this into on the new harness, usually their are 2 red ones and maybe 1 or 2 yellow ones..
are you sure theirs no wires with a metal connector left on the harness of the new stereo, im sorry im not familiar with JVC as i only use Apline HU but i guess the wire harnesses should all be the same

There is one yellow cable from the headunit and then a red cable that splitsa into two, one part of which attaches to one of the adaptor plugs the other had a plastic cover on it when it was removed form my old car.

the red you have needs to attach to the spare red one, take plastic cover off it
