Air Bag Light!
« on: 25 May 2007, 19:36 »
Hi All, just fitted the nokia Hands Free Car Kit and followed the instructions which are really great!!

Only Problem is..... The Air Bag Light has come on!?!?!?

I've run the wire down the edge of the A Piller as shown, and only used my finger down the rubber of the door seal.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Simon

Where are you powering the kit from? The VW loom can be a bit sensitive.

I found this out the hard way, it didn't work in the way Docs instructions showed. I triggered a few fuses which the dealer had to sort out (luckily dealer didn't twig it was the kit fitting that caused the probs and did investigation under warranty - the fuses were hidden ones, not in either fuse box).

I believe this problem has also appeared when owners have had aftermarket headunits fitted, and the battery has been disconnected. Usually sorted by a trip to the dealer and the removal of VAGCOM error codes.

I fitted as the Doc instructed, power from pin 20 on the air con. I guess it's a trip to the dealers!

I think my auto lights may be affected too!!! They seem to come on when light!

My phone works though!

You probably removed the electrical connector to the centre dash vent, thereby triggering an airbag fault code. You need to go to a VW dealer to get it recoded.

See point 6b in this installation thread:

Hmmm... is it possible to change the stereo without removing this one?!
I have a CanBus adapter, so I won't need to modify any wiring.

yeah, you can place the vent (still conected) on the dash, I thought it was easier to remove it!! Doh!!
