yeah, you need to make sure, post some pictures of the sony connector block so i can make sure its the same as mine, im assuming you dont have the head unit manual? and just to be sure you have no standard speakers in the back allready no?

also have you thought about adding a sub or do you have the 6x9s allready, or dont want and amp ect.
I only ask because it could be easier and you will get much more effect, if you can afford or know someone with a spare small amp, wouldnt need much.

Hi mate, il try and get a picture up for you....

i have a sub in there already which is amped, and i did try the amp on the speakers but it dosnt sound very good, because they get distored way to easy.... its a 400 watt amp (not rms) and the speakers are jbl gto 100 watt rms, 300 max....

basically at the moment the speakers are wired up but i dont think there right.... and ive got the sub on very low and the bass is perfect with the new speakers, but i want to get rid of the amp on sub, since im selling the car and the new owner wants 4 speakers etc and i have 6x9s lying around...

where are the wires to the 6x9 speakers coming from? the original vw speakers wires or are you running them off an amp too?

All ISO connector leads utilise the same colour coding system - it's the whole point of having a 'standard'. So, it;s v easy to identify which wires to 'cut'.

So, if you're running new cables for these 6x9's (which I think is what you're trying to do?) you're best off connecting them directly to the headunit end of the loom, prior to them connecting to the VW blocks. That way when (if) you ever remove your sony head unit you haven't altered the standard car loom in any way. It also allows you to perform the wiring work outside of the car and not trying to crimp wires that are physically inside/behind the dashboard.

You're looking for the purple (rear, right hand side) and green (rear, left hand side) pairs on the Sony loom. Striped wire denotes NEGATIVE polarity positions.

1) Whip your stereo out, take off the loom
2) Cut the wires approx half way between the Sony block and the ISO female block
3) Strip back insulation, fit and crimp some crimp connectors
4) Run new speaker cables, fitted with corresponding connectors
5) Connect up, re-install head unit and enjoy

they sound 100x better!!!, thanks people, one more thing now

if i wanted to put put more speakers in the back doors, would it jus be a case of cutting the other 2 sets of wires inbetween the green and purple ones? or would this be a harder task? thanks

The four head unit outputs are designed to run 4 speakers (or sets of speakers, if a crossover is being used). Hanging more than one full-range speaker from an output (which is what you're looking to do) will change the impedance of the signal (and these should both be matched, normally at 4 Ohms for full range stuff).

If you wanted more rearwards volume you'll need to look at adding a separate method of driving these additional speakers, such as adding an amplifier. Simply daisy chaining your speakers together will not work (for long) and you run the risk of wrecking your equipment.
