New clocks/Changing mileage
« on: 27 January 2007, 15:13 »
Need a bit of help, I have a new set of 16v clocks I want to put in my mk2 to replace my 8v ones. I need to change the change mileage to be the same as the old clocks. Anyone able to pm my a guide? I have the clocks in bits at the moment, but don't want to break them.

Cheers

Dan

if you remove just the clock part then you can change that over and keep the new mfa/rev counter etc.
this helps if the speedo is a 140 instead of a 120 and you keep the miles as well.

is you undo the screws behind the speedo part it will lift out sideways with a bit of encouragement
you might have to undo some screws for the other half.

i dont have a picture but search for bently manual. theres probaly something good in there!

If you want to wind the mileage back you can do this with a pencil with a rubber on top,  use the rubber to push individual digits down or up,  not that i am a mileage chopper or anything,  ensure all individual digits line up,  pretty easy done,  but i would go for Breakers option if you have complete unit dismantled.

If it is a 90 mph per hour wind and you drive your car at 90mph downwind, if you stick your head outside would you feel the wind?

I don't need to do the rev counter, just the speedo to do the miles.

The needle really doesn't want to come off, and the numbers wont budge

try and unclip one of the sides where the red screw gear is (i think)
it will pull forwards and you can change the numbers

If you are going to take the back off the clocks make sure you warm the circuit system first.  They can be a bit brittle, so 2 mins with a hair dryer may be time well spent.

All sorted now. Flicked the little red wheel off, and wound it back. Thanks for your hlp lads.
