Thats because all frogs drive like mad people and they need more power than than the next crazy French person..... :grin:

ah yea i remember reading about those, it was called the 16s as valves in french is souplapes or something like that. Think it was something to do with keeping the french public buying the Golf as aposed to defecting to its competitors before the mark 2 came out. (i think)

did you know also that they only used the lower case I on GTi for the Greek market also, cant remember where i read it though  :undecided:

That mk3 bears a striking resemblance to the mk4 r32 from behind
sun, sea, sand + mk2 8v gti = fun
