How do i by-pass this?

Now i have no hot air and its due to this thing....dont know what its called but mechanic said this is whats causing no hot air. I told mechanic that i have heard they can be by-passed but he said he had never heard or known of it. How can it be by-passed?

Any help would be great

you can buy new uncut hoses from GSF for £10 each, which is the non-bodger way to do it
