could be the extra weight, cabs are heavier than tin tops!

All vw's post 1980 (or arround there) should be run on unleadded, try optimax

I don't look at porn much,
usually 2 or 3 minutes is enough

old cabs Gli's and GTI's are faster than the later model GTI's - in the standard form. I tested this out last year with my two cabs (one being 83 Gli and other 92 GTI) most of this comes down to getting the tuning right and the older cabs are lighter in weight than the later ones, also the earlier cabs had a better manifold and front exhaust system to flow the gases out better...

I don't bother too much about speed in the cabs as they are built to be viewed cruising on the roads ;)

forgot to include - both cars run on unleaded... you will always loss a little power on unleaded, but as you said adjust timing should help ;)

I'd get the car tuned properly - so the timing is set correctly

I've been running mine on Shell unleaded 95 RON at the moment, but I was using Optimax when it was 98 RON, but I've not put any V-Power in as that's 99 RON and as I'm running K-jet I'm not sure if it will run ok or not as there's no ECU. I was always advised that it's best to run mk1 k-jets on at least 97 RON, so put in either normal unleaded or one of the 97's from various garages.
......now officially dubless.
