the golf is known as a rabbit in the states.
Up until 1985 they were Rabbits. Basically mark 1 Golfs. I remember I had a beige 4 door with 2 square headlights and beige vinyl interior. very stylish but couldn't kill it. From 1974 through 1979 they had the MK1 style round lights but from 1980 to 1984 they had to square sealed beam headlights. Would be nice to have that grille setup here as I haven't seen one here. From 1985 they were Golfs but the GTI didn't have the 4 headlamp grille until about 1989 or 90 timeframe. They had a jetta grille and lamps in them. I don't remember them having the repeaters on the wings either. The 16valve GTI was a 2,0 liter with A/C from the factory and Recaro interior. I think most of the 91 models had leather as well. I had an 85 8v in Mars red for a while. Excellent car. I bought it in Texas from a breakers yard and it was in Really nice shape as far as the body went but the interior looked like it had a pack of dogs living in it. The car wouldn't run and I gave $200 for it. The story was that a fella rebuilt the engine and it wouldn't run. He then got mad and junked it. All that was wrong was he had the distributor out by 180 degrees. I bought an entire 91 16v that had been smashed and swapped out the interior into it. You wouldn't believe what I had to pay for a 4 lamp grille to get rid of the sh!te looking Jetta Grille.

GTI's are suppose to have round lights! unless it is a rallye

Ahhh reminicing. lol
By the way Knite, Nice looking Motor mate. I like the looks of the mk4's.
