Managed, whilst driving to shake there starter motor out of position?
Parked up went to the the shop came out got in the car tried to start it, nothing. I thought... another starter motor, but the last one that went gave me plenty of notice. So I thought i'd have a look under the bonnet, and low and behold the starter motor is hanging out. What the fu@k I here you say...exactly and there's a flying pig!
To many sleeping policemen around here if you ask me.
I've lost one bolt, the thread on the other is knackered in the middle and the ring/washer type thing in the center of the long spindle thingy is now a little wonky. If I put this back where it should be do you think it will work? More to the point if I can get knew bolts to fit the starter motor back on will it work?
What about damage to the cogs in the engine, or any other internal parts?
Will I need to and how will I re-thread the parts of the engine block the starter motor bolts screw into.
This starter motor has been on for about 8 months and when I took the original one off the engine dropped a little. what damage may have been caused when the engine dropped whilst driving?
Up to now I have manged to fix things that have gone wrong, myself...I may of met my match this time.
Any tips ideas, inspiration is greatly appreciated.
For the record it is a MK 2 1990 8v GTI
