Please please help, radio wiring !

I'm trying to sort out the wiring on my 91 8v and I've found a few wires that are just floating around the back of the dash, they come from the same part of the lume as the fog light and heated rear window switch wires.
They are as follows :-       1.White with a yellow stripe
                                    2.Brown with a red stripe (permanently live)
                                    3.Grey with a blue stripe.

I haven't got a clue what these wires are for as everything on the car apart from the interior light works fine, I'm as sure as I can be that there not the speaker wires as they come from the left hand side of the hole for the radio and I've identified all the other wires relating to the radio. The only thing I'm not sure of is that one of them maybe a radio illumination dimmer control but I cant remember if my model would have one. I know this is not the easiest of questions to answer but I'm trying to sort it all out and if that means just blanking the ends of these wires then fine but I'd rather know what their there for before I fit it all in. Any help really appreciated, thanks

I would be tempted to install a fresh ISO plug directly to the fusebox. at least you know the wires are all good and it's all going to the right places.

Thats a good idea but the trouble is I still wont know what the original wires are there for, I've worked out that the Grey with blue stripe is the dimmer control wire so thats sorted. But I still have a few wires that I don't have any idea about and to make matters worse I must have shorted something out because now my rev counter wont work and the clock is stuck on 1.00 and when I push the button on the M.F.A nothing happens. I think one of the previous owners thought he was good at wiring and turned out to be a useless c*nt, I only want to put me radio in and its turning into a f*cking nightmare. Times like this I feel like just pushing it in a hedge and getting something else, F*cking cars they really f*ck me off at times, a f*cking waste of time and money. Rant over  . Does anyone know what I may have done to bugger me rev counter and M.F.A ?

Thanks mate I'll try that in the morning hopefully I'll not be hating it as much after a good nights kip and I mite finally have some sounds to listen too other than my beautiful voice
