mk2 vr6 conversion

just wonderin if anyone has tips on doin a mk2 2.9 vrs conversion as i a m considering doin one?

a few people on here are doing them but i guess the best advice is get as much of the donor car as possible, you'll need upgraded brakes suspension etc its easy to bodge but done well its wicked!

If as your user name suggests the car you are using is an 8v then good luck!
You want a rear ended rado??

Take the entire front end with cross member! looms, fuse boxs & everything!
Then check the posts for changing hydraulic cluch to cable clutch?
then save a lot of cash for top of the range suspension Brakes and handling upgrades?

and then bolt it up to your 8v?

easier and may be better/cheaper option would be 2.0 16v
but that is just my opinion

I agree with mk2madman, stick a 2 litre mk3 in there! I had a mk2 with a mk3 engine (till someone drove into it) was stupidly fast! 0 -60 in about 6.5 seconds, the guy i got to fit it reckoned putting a VR6 in wouldn't really be any quicker, cos it's so much heavier. Plus if you've got a 16v mk2, the mk3 engine'll go straight in, only sits 1mm higher and runs on same injection system, so just upgrade the brakes, lower the car a little bit and the job's a good 'un!
