A couple of things (newbie here - not new to cars though ;)  )

Is it just me or do all small bumper to big bumper conversions not look quite right. It always looks as if the new big bumper are sloping in towards the car?

I would disagree with the comments regarding the money this guy has spent restoring his Mk2. If he wants a "MINT" mk2 then good luck to him. It takes balls money talent patience and dedication to restore something to that kind of quality. Lovely job.

Personally I would have changed the rear lights and probably gone for some BBS's...

Also Tornado red does not have to pink! A good dose of Meguiars will see it right. If the weather is okay tomorrow I will post some pics of my freshly polished Tornado red 5dr.....

Cheers,

Steve

Hopefully my engine will be looking as clean as that one when I get it back. I've said I wanted it all painted so it looks mint. the rocker, inlet manifold and few other bits are being polished up and I have a carbon fibre engine trim peice too. :)

well i guess i dont share the same view but its good to discuss.  personally id rather spend the money on something better, rather than making something bad better.  i could understand if that golf was a rarity but (and im no expert) thats not a rare car its just a run of the mill motor right? i spose i have a long way to go before im so 'in' to golfs that i would spend that kind of money on one..  i could think of ten other cars id much rather have for say 5k. of course im on a golf forum slatting a pretty clean golf  my opinion wont ever be acceptable.

i will say the attractive thing for me about the Golf is its 'cheapability'  i dont think there are many cars at the moment that have such great value for the money

Get yourself over to www.meguiars.co.uk and on the forum, what they don't know about detailing ain't worth knowing.

I have recently moved from Autoglym to Megs stuff and its night and day.

A three stage crystal paint restoratio will bring back almost any colour to showroom condition unless it is down to undercoat.

Cheers,

Steve
