Sounds like it could be a fuel pressure issue in the k-jet system. I say this because you said that its fine warm starting but if you leave it a while then it struggles. i.e the longer you leave it the lower the pressure drops. Have a good old read through the following sites. They may give you some needed info on how the system works.

thanks mk2 - interesting reading i bought a fuel filter never got around to fitting it - think the pipes looked like they could snap as the old filter was being a pain to remove.  - better get around to doing it can only help!
