if the audi 2lt 16 valve is lower hp than the golf 1.8 why go for the conversion did the audi use milder cams? if i put the golf head on will it improve hp?

The 9A produced less power than the KR because it had softer profile cams to go with the cat converter that was fitted.

I put the complete Audi engine in and then just swapped the cams afterwards.
As golfvr6-is-back said, the Audi 6a/Passat 9a 16v engines had softer cam profiles and a cat which gave less power and emissions.
Fixing my clutch tonight...
