8.5 Steering wheel leather issue / crease
« on: 02 June 2025, 12:44 »
Just completed 1,000 mile in my shiny GTI and loving it so far. However when driving home on the motorway on Saturday night the road was empty so I just had my left hand on the wheel just left of the 12 o’clock position. After about 30 mins when I got home there was a sort of bubble in the leather where my hand had been. I managed to maniythe leather to remove the bump, however it how now left a small crease in the leather which with my OCD is really noticeable. I’ve booked it in to the dealership this morning as obviously I’m not happy that the wheel should do this. Not sure if the leather isn’t tight enough in the rim or whether it should be glued in place. It’s more the issue that I can’t hold the wheel for a long period in that position without this issue happening again.

Just wondered if anyone else had seen something similar.

Doesn’t look much from the picture above but that is after I had managed to massage the leather back into place.
