Harmonic Damper
« on: 19 March 2025, 19:15 »
Does anyone know where I can obtain the Harmonic Damper that Audi used to  fit to an A3 Chassis
Apparently it also fits to a 7.5 GTI.
I have an awful hollow droning noise on my GTI. New rears fitted and wheel bearings seem to be fine.
I have read that this damper can help, but some people seem to have to order from abroad.

I've one fitted to mine and it definitely makes a difference. Can't say if it will resolve your particular issue. Is it a new noise or from day 1? It could still be your tyres.

Link to part numbers and fitting guide. Just order from an Audi dealer.

I also have one fitted to my MK7 made a big difference to road noise in the cabin. Seems a decent price from below. You will need the nuts and washers as well.

Quite an interesting topic as i seem to have the same problem, although i think it could be down to the rear tyres as they are the original Pzeros fitted from new which have covered 55k.

I asm going to get those replaced first and see if that improves the noise.

I also just had a quick feel and i appear to have the two holes for the mounting but the exhaust goes right underneath the recess so access could be a bit tight to fit it!
