My car turned 5 years old this month and my All-in service plan finished. I will probably renew it again as the current spring offer is only 41p per month more than I had been paying.

My mate has the All-in on his Passat. His two years are up in October but his car will be 6 years old in July. He had a service last week and was told to ring up just before the car is 6 years old, pay off the balance then take out a new All-in plan. Would be full price by then though unless they do another offer.

Hi,
I lurk and occasionally hijack relevant and useful threads!
I have a 2015 MK7 GTI (only 29k miles) that I’ve serviced with the dealer since owning from new.

The service plan in on is up for renewal and the spring deal is a more economical way to buy it but I see they have jacked up the price and also reduced the scope of the plan.
Is it still worth getting the minor and major done under the premium option or stick with the two ‘minor’ services on what they describe as their now ‘standard’ service plan?
Deal expires tomorrow so grateful for any advice.

For info:

1) Standard Service Plan £443
Incl 2x services & 1x pollen filter

2) Service Plan Plus £601
Incl 2x services & 1x pollen filter AND 1x air filter change & 1x spark plug change

(Note the cost of the service plan I paid for in 2022 was £372 with air filter and spark plug changes!! Equivalent to today’s ‘Service Plan plus’ option)

I’m currently leaning towards the £443 and then do air filter myself and leave plugs for another two years as it’s low mileage. I’m also conscious of the thermostat housing ticking clock too (could do spark plugs then ?) and have some suspension work to be done to fix bush that has popped out of collar.

Not great at DIY but hope you can shed some light on the value of the two minor service plan in particular.

Thank you

If I assume correctly then that you had the spark plugs changed in 2023 or 2024, I'd go with what you are thinking. Pretty sure they won't need changing in the next couple of years.

Hi Watts, thanks for replying. And yep - confirmed air filter and spark plugs changed in 2023 with dealer. Hoping a dealer service is still worth it even for a minor. I use a local garage on the other car and it’s probably about the same price but with extra filter changes.

My grandson has just purchased an Audi A3. All in plan is £887.76. Cheekily tried to get him the VW plan but on putting in the number plate was told "this is not a VW". All handled by vwfinance so a bit surprised at the huge difference in prices.
