Seats
« on: 11 October 2005, 18:03 »
ive got 2 golfs one is a 5 door the other is a 3 door, my 3 door has the grey seats with a few colored lines on it and my 5 door has these really nice half leather dark green and black seats , basically i want the black ones in my 3 door, but obviously the front seats wont move forward to allow others accsess to my rear seats, anyone got any ideas?

The tilt mechanism is fitted to all MK2 seats, you just need to cut a slit in the right place on the side & fit the handle & surround.  Double check by looking at the base, you should see the 2 hooks that need to lift up in order for the seat to flip forward :)

ive just done it, i had to saw away this bit of metal tho, i think the idea was to undo the screw driver hole thingy but i couldnt undo the bastard, so now the seats not as stable as i think it needs to be to pass an MOT, cause i only have one clip thing, ill have to keep the old seats so i can put  them on for MOT time :D

If u dont mind abit of hard graff, swap the to backs around.

1. remove the seat covers ( roll the seats as far foward as they can go, then u'll c sum metal clip, type tings cut them with a side cutters then remove covers).

2.at the bottom edge on either side u'll c sum bolts undo them (cnt member the size 17mm I think??) then the seat will cum apart

3. swap em over then follow steps one and 1&2 again ( the clips that hold the covers on are called hog ring, u need to buy sum, and a hog ring tool to put them on).

hope this helps, I a trimmer so I know this works 4 a fact.
