Thanks for the link Gnasher . I'll have a look at it tonight.
Well I'm set on the BBS SR in the himalaya gray just need to decide on the size I'm thinking 8×19 . Would I be right in thinking that BBS have the same weight as the OEM Austins ? 11kg?
Correct fitment for the Golf (in 19") is 8.5 x 19 ET 46 - at least I hope it is, that's what's on mine lol.
When you say correct what do you mean correct for, to fill the wheel arch or what is correct for the Golf? 19" wheels on the GTD and GTi are 7.5" wide and either 50 or 51 offset(can't remember) and the R is 8" wide(not sure about the offset) but none of them are 8.5" wide.
8.5" ET46 will be what BBS have submitted to gain TUV approval for the Golf mk7
So yes, you're correct, that's the optimum fitment BBS have decided to run with to fill the arches rather than them sticking with OEM offsets and widths which sit too far into the arches.
An educated guess here but we see lots of mention of 7.5" Santiagos buckling, yet no mention of 8.0 (ET50) Pretorias buckling. BBS have probably plumped for an 8.5" width for strength and ET46 will sit them nice and flush.
