Was going to start a thread on this. I log on after a week or so to see that someone beat me to it.

I have keyless. Car is now nearly 17 months old. Message saying key not found started showing up. This week after footy on Tuesday message in display no key located I had to manually start it. Luckily I had read the manual a few weeks prior car started got home car didn't lock. Had to get the spare out to lock.
Straight in to the bay 4 Duracell cr2025 for 4 quid free postage.

I think keyless does use more battery I also read if you use the fob from further away it uses more too.

Either way new batteries will be here today so I will switch back to te old fob.

I've had my car for 18 months now and just started getting a warning about the battery being low.  Looks like it must be a keyless feature.  Pretty poor for the battery to only last this long!

Was it pretty straight forward to replace?

18 months in. Battery low for 24 hours and now found myself stranded at work. RAC came out and said use the spare. Guidance on starting the car given but did not work.
Absolute disgrace from vw skimping on batteries!

Seriously? It's a battery. It costs about 2 quid and takes 30 seconds to replace it.

I had the low message for 2 weeks, before I changed it.  Weird it stranded after 24 hours.

Anyway,  buy four and keep a spare in the glovebox :)
